'Who Is Letting This Happen?': Biden Caught Biting Babies in Absurd Scene at WH Halloween Celebration

When Vice President Kamala Harris assumed the Democratic leadership in late July, one of her initial strategies was to label the GOP — especially former President Donald Trump and his running mate, Ohio Senator J.D. Vance — as “weird.”

The “weird” tactic initially seemed promising, with Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz backing it up, as he was reportedly the first to make this argument. For a short while, the approach seemed to gain traction — until Vance and Walz appeared together, making it clear to most observers who actually seemed “weirder” on stage (spoiler: it wasn’t the one with more hair).

This "weird" narrative, however, faced a stumbling block, as the Democrats struggled to shake the public’s memory of Harris' boss, known for his odd habit of sniffing women's and children’s hair. Halloween, coincidentally, fell just days before Election Tuesday — right when kids in costumes would fill the White House lawn.

It turned into the perfect moment for the 46th president to pretend to take a bite out of a kid dressed as a chicken. Why not, right?

This moment went viral after happening at a White House trick-or-treat event Wednesday night, as the theme from “Jaws” played in the background and the president playfully pretended to bite the child’s leg.

Though the “biting” was just in jest, the awkwardness couldn’t have been more real:

And that wasn’t the only baby he interacted with in this unusual way:

Absolutely normal behavior.

Naturally, social media exploded with quips and jokes. “’Joe Biden bites a baby.’ And 2024 is complete…” joked Steve Krakauer from “The Megyn Kelly Show.”

Conservative commentator Nick Sortor added, “President Trump is mingling with garbage men at his rally in Wisconsin, while Joe Biden is literally BITING BABIES at the White House Halloween Party. WTF IS THIS TIMELINE?”

When footage of Biden’s interaction with a second baby surfaced, Sortor followed up, “Who is letting this happen and why?!”

But perhaps that’s just it: there seems to be no senior oversight at the White House — and it’s showing.

To be clear, it’s not just the baby-biting that’s troubling, although it’s hardly ideal optics for Harris as Election Day approaches. Perhaps more troubling are Biden’s recent unscripted remarks, which have caused additional headaches for the campaign.

Biden’s off-the-cuff comment that “we gotta lock [Trump] up” stirred up enough controversy, only to be followed by his remark calling Trump supporters “garbage” on Tuesday — leading the White House to quickly step in and smooth things over in the official transcript.

And now he’s back to awkward encounters with kids.

One might almost wonder if Biden actually wants Kamala Harris to lose.
