Woman Airlifted to Hospital After Being Stabbed, Neighborhood Kids Identified as Suspects
A 59-year-old woman is in critical condition following a stabbing incident in Houston on Saturday. The suspects involved are a 12-year-old and a 7-year-old.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez stated, 'An aggravated assault charge was filed against the 12-year-old boy.' The 7-year-old, due to legal reasons, is not considered culpable.
Reports from KTRK TV suggest that the woman, whose identity remains undisclosed, had a 'complicated' relationship with her neighbors, characterized by a 'fragile' mental state.
The situation escalated on Saturday, as documented in KHOU-TV's surveillance footage. The footage shows a confrontation in the woman's driveway between her and the boys on bikes. The boys left briefly but returned wearing gloves, leaving their bikes and entering the garage. Moments later, they fled the scene.
Harris County Sheriff’s Office investigator Sergio Torres mentioned that the woman's brother discovered her injured. 'Her brother came and checked up on her... He opened the door and saw that she was stabbed,' Torres stated.
The woman was airlifted to a hospital for surgery and is reported to be in critical condition as of Sunday morning.
Authorities have not charged the parents of the boys, but Texas’ Child Protective Services have been informed. Under Texas law, the minimum age for legal culpability in a crime is 10 years old.
