‘You Suck So Bad’: MTG Clashes With Reporter Live on Air
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) made headlines with a fiery exchange involving Alex Lawson, the executive director of the progressive group Social Security Works.
The confrontation unfolded outside a meeting where Greene was set to discuss recommendations for improving government efficiency under President-elect Donald Trump.
Referring to the encounter as a clash with a “Democrat PAC operative,” Greene later emphasized her refusal to submit to what she described as a “political ambush.” Lawson had approached her, urging her to pledge against cuts to Social Security and Medicare, which she dismissed as a publicity stunt aimed at generating “Democratic attack ads.”
The exchange came shortly after President-elect Trump reiterated during a Meet the Press interview that his administration would enhance government efficiency without cutting federal entitlements like Social Security and Medicare.
“He’s funded by a Democrat PAC, donates 100% to Democrats, is only here to make…” Greene began, as Lawson interjected: “We’re bipartisan.”
“No, you’re not. We looked you up. You are 100% funded by Democrats. You donate to Democrats. You’re out here asking bullsh*t questions,” Greene shot back.
Holding up a piece of paper, Lawson said, “This is a mailing from… This is Donald Trump.”
“You’re only one-sided. You don’t care about the American people,” Greene retorted, grabbing the paper and tossing it aside.
“President Trump, we all campaigned on protecting senior Social Security. You can’t lie about it. See, this is your political agenda. We don’t care… You’re not media,” Greene continued.
“That’s Donald Trump’s mailing,” Lawson reiterated.
“No, this right here is for Democrat ads to attack Republicans… That’s what your agenda is,” Greene countered.
“It’s really simple,” Lawson said.
“No, it’s not simple… You’re a liar,” Greene fired back, as Lawson pressed her to “take the pledge” to safeguard Social Security and Medicare.
“I don’t need to take a pledge because we’ve already done that all year long. And guess what? The sad story for you is the American people elected Trump, his agenda, and Republicans to lead the country because you guys suck so bad,” Greene concluded before walking away.
After the confrontation, Greene addressed the encounter on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “Democrat PACs are lurking in the halls of Congress trying to do ‘gotcha’ interviews with Republicans. I wasn’t having it.” She doubled down, calling Social Security Works a partisan group.

Meanwhile, President-elect Donald Trump has unveiled plans for his first hours in office, including pardoning nonviolent participants in the Jan. 6 Capitol events, initiating deportations of illegal immigrants, and ramping up oil production.
In an interview with Time magazine, Trump announced his intention to issue pardons swiftly. “We’re going to do it very quickly, and it’s going to start in the first hour that I get into office. A vast majority should not be in jail, and they’ve suffered gravely,” he stated.
Trump also addressed foreign policy concerns, criticizing President Joe Biden for allowing Ukraine to use U.S.-made weapons against some Russian targets. He expressed hopes that efforts to end the war, which began with Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, could intensify during his return to office.
